One Platform to Streamline the Whole Business Process

The less time spent on administrative processes, the sooner help can reach the world’s hot spots. In all its simplicity, this is the goal of the Danish Refugee Council and motive for implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations.

Cross-cutting cooperation is critical to business

How do you get a global organisation with 7,000 employees, more than 150 offices, thousands of volunteers and projects around the world to work better together? A question that the DRC asked itself and one that needed an answer.

Previously they had handled HR, finance, project grants, and logistics in several disparate IT solutions and the challenges they faced daily were becoming ever more problematic. The project grant system was a proprietary system that made the workflows heavy and time-consuming. Employees had to handle all links in the supply chain manually in the logistics solution. The HR solution was not able to give the organisation a global overview of all employees, and the finance solution needed a replacement and upgrade.

One coherent platform to streamline the whole business process

The Danish Refugee Council chose to implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. With one coherent platform, they can now work as “One DRC” across national borders.

In HR, this means that they will have a global solution where fewer paper forms are needed; managers have a better overview and can spend more time developing employees.

In economics, this means that the Danish Refugee Council receives an agile, cloud-based solution, where data in real time is always available regardless of location and the employee’s role in the organisation.

The finance solution simultaneously integrates into HR, logistics and project grants so that the Danish Refugee Council can align its processes and gain a better insight into the overall operation.

Within logistics, the Danish Refugee Council now have a system that fully supports their supply chain with full transparency in the procurement process and faster execution from the application of funds for distribution of help.

And they can now standardise and simplify the handling of the grants and the varying requirement for documentation and reporting.

More and faster relief

As with all other organisations, the Danish Refugee Council also states that the more workflows that can be digitised, the more workflows can also be automated. It offers some benefits:

With digital support for the core processes, the Danish Refugee Council can focus more of their time and more of their financial resources on providing emergency relief in the world’s hot spots.

With standardised functionality, Danish Refugee Council can ensure that all employees in all countries work in the same way, which increases the data quality and reduces the number of errors in the administrative processes.

Maintenance and upgrades of different solutions can be a resource-intensive process if multiple vendors are to coordinate the work. With Microsoft Dynamics 365, Danish Refugee Council has only one supplier to contact and one solution to service.
